I laughed when I saw the first article about Cuil describing it as a “serious threat to Google.” It just didn’t seem plausible to me. But after trying it myself earlier, and now with your side by side treatment, the comparison is positively ridiculous. They may have a broader index (though I doubt it), but the quality of their results leaves much to be desired.
